I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has implemented the Octree colour quantization algorithm from "Computer Gems" (p. 287). I've gotten it working; but the my implementation gives poor results for certain types of images (in particular those images which contain lots of minor variations of a few different colours). Is this an inherent flaw in the method, or have I chosen my octree reducing criteria badly? Please send mail; if enough people are interested I'll summarize. marcos -- Marcos H.
