Our lab is interested in low-cost single frame recording to record animation sequences and demos on video tape. I came across the following statement in the the brochure describing the Canon E53 Camcorder: "The E53 has a two mode Self Timer and an Interval Timer that lets you record slow moving subjects at 10-, 20- or 60-second intervals. Take part in your own pictures or witness the slow-moving miracle of nature." My questions are: * is this a true single-frame recording capability? * what is the quality? * can recording of a frame be triggered by some external signal or the remote control instead of the internal timer? * are there other 8mm recorders that offer this feature? Are single-frame recording easier to build for 8mm than VHS? (In fact, are there single-frame consumer-type/cheap VHS recorders now?) * has anyone used this capability to generate animation sequences by computer? * do you have any other advice on low-cost single-frame recording? I will summarize to the net. Thanks for the help, Thomas.
