[net.cooks] avocados: nutritional info, anyone?

kolovson@hplabs.UUCP (03/23/85)

Does anyone know the nutritional content of an average sized avocado?
Sorry, flamers, if you think this belongs in a different newsgroup.
I'm particularly interested in calories, carbohydrates, and FAT.
I'm afraid that once I find out, I'll give em up. I understand that
they're very high in fat. Thanks in advance,

In the Book "LAUREL'S KITCHEN 'A Handbook for Vegetarian Cookery and
Nutrition'", the Authors include some tables and charts for various
foods. Here is what they write about Avacados (pg. 472).

In (), I multiplied the Florida value by .71 (=216/304) to give
a fair comparison (equal weight). It is interesting that CA
Avacados have more protein, more Calories, more fat and less
Carbohydrates than their Florida cousins.

Hope this answers your question.
