Hmmm... I suppose I should qualify my last post. On my standard vga, emulating 640x480x256 via CShow, the image sample.gif (from sample.jpg) didn't not look much better than my altered 320x200x256 version. So, for my system at least, Image Alchemy's implementation of jpeg would not be worth it. Maybe those with better systems can give better (less biased) opinions.
