Hello, Im trying to write a program for my scanner and would like to utilize super vga (800x600 256 colors) graphics. Unfortunately, QuickBasic and QuickC (languages of choice) dont support this mode. I presume this is because this mode is none standard and different graphics cards require different implement- ations. I have an ATI vgawonder card with 512k ram, and i know that it can run this mode sucessfully, several programs run in this mode. So how do i do it? I will primarily be doing bit mapped graphics so circle and line commands are really unecessary. Any help would be appreciated. THanks Doug Kelly djk@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu

For good help on programming the new Super VGA standards you may want to check out a recent issue of Dr. Dobb's (there was a huge graphics issue about 3-4 months ago), and there is a book out called SuperVGA Programming. Brian

What exactly id Dr. Dobb's Journal? I've seen several references to it, but no listing in any FAQ postings. Is it a real mag, electronic mag, or something along the lines of a fanzine (from comics/music/etc)??
