Someone asked me "where do GIFs come from", and I had to confess that I am not up to date on the best hardware, and didn't see anything on this in the monthly posting. I would appreciate being sent info on ways to turn photographs, or frames from a VHS tape/camcorder, into color (I'm not interested in B&W) images on a PC, preferably methods that would be in the <$1,000 range. (If you know good ways to do it on an Amiga or Mac I am interested there too.) If you know of an alternative that exceeds this price range but does a lot better job, I want to hear about that also. I'm also interested in the methods used to create the animated GIF images that conform to the 89 standard: how hard is it to create one of these beasts? If I get enough response I'll post a summary. I probably won't be able to email back to everyone who sends me something, as I've been having a lot of trouble getting mail out recently. -- Flint Pellett, Global Information Systems Technology, Inc. 1800 Woodfield Drive, Savoy, IL 61874 (217) 352-1165 uunet!gistdev!flint or flint@gistdev.gist.com
