[comp.graphics] Grasp history

Hi.

I have just found yet another grasp program, this one is labeled
"Grasp V1.10", and the package contains:

 - RunTime Grasp viewer (grasprt).
 - Grasp file creation program (basically a text editor, with a facility,
to "graspview" the result of the editing).
 - glib (Yet another grasp librarian).
 - A TSR to capture part of the screen, and save it as a .PIC file.
 - Manual describing the grasp language.
 - Utilities to find size of PIC & CLP pictures.
 - Grasp fonts.
 - A CGA grasp demo.

The package is pretty old (1986), and the manual does not mention VGA
at all. There is no description of the PIC or CLP formats.

I thought that the grasp format was created by Paul Mace, and that he
just used the same .PIC format as PCPAINT-PLUS .

This package was made by "Microtex Industries, Inc.", and describes
grasp as being made to put PCPAINT to better use. The package is
USEware (if you use it, you should pay $50 to Microtex).

Does anyone know who created the grasp language? Is "Microtex" a "Paul
Mace" company?

PS The .gl filecreator and the "capture" facility trashes a Hercules
screen :-(
