johns@cs.umr.edu (John Stone) (02/07/91)

Has anyone else seen the specs on the new Hercules Superstation 3D ?
I just got literature on it today.. Very impressive hardware, it has
an i860 running at 33 Mhz, a TI 34020, 2 Mb of Vram, 2-16 Mb of Dram
and Vga pass through... They claim that it has 33 mips Peak performance and
27 VAX mips (the i860 that is), and it has 66 Mflops S.P. and 33 Mflops D.P.
performance. Three D graphics rating of 25,000 triangles/sec.

The TI 34020 runs TIGA, and has programmable CRT control, and Screen refresh
and host bus interface control.

The memory is as follows:
VRAM - 2 Mb primarily for display frame buffer.
DRAM - 2 Mb upgradeable to 4Mb, 8 Mb, or 16Mb for program memory.
64 bit wide.

Display resolutions/colors :

Colors: Max Res: Pixel Freq: Vert Freq:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
    256 1280 x 1024 135 72
  32,768 1024 x 768 77 72
16.7 Million 800 x 600 46 72
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Supports single or double buffering.
VGA pass through for 100% compatibility

Expansion Options:
64 bit expansion bus
Genlocked video out hooks for NTSC/PAL
RS - 170 compatible output

Drivers and libs:
ADI - (autocad) driver
4.5 Million pixels per sec.

Rendering library:
accelerates 3D rendering.
Multiple surfaces/light source types for realism
supports hierarchical modeling.

TIGA 2.0/ Windows 3.0 drivers running on 34020
