[comp.graphics] essential reference books

moorej@cpsin2.uucp (Jeffrey R Moore) (02/21/91)

I apologize because this does not really relate to graphics, but...

Did you ever notice that there are some books which are so incredibly
useful, that you keep going back to them again and again. Graphics Gems
seems to be one of those books. The next time I see it I plan on
getting it to add to my reference library. My question is what other
books to you find indespensible? Email me your suggestions (or post, I
will see them). I will post a summary if there is enough interest.

Here is my list:

"The C Programming Language" Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie
"Lisp" Patrick Henry Winston and Berthold Klaus Paul Horn
"Algorithms" Robert Sedgewick

"Inside Macintosh" ?
"How to write Macintosh Software" Scott Knaster
"Enders Game" Orson Scott Card ;)

(Alright, alright, MAYBE the last three don't belong in EVERYONES
reference library ;)

I second the Sedwick algorithims book and add to the list

Geometric Modeling by Michael Mortenson ( I've seen others by him
that look good also)
