[comp.graphics] Scanned Image Files to Vectorized CAD Files

rh21@prism.gatech.EDU (HERKERT,RALPH M.) (03/15/91)

Does anyone know of any software that converts a scanned graphic image file
into a vectorized CAD file that is compatible with AutoCAD? The converted
file must have the ability to be edited with standard AutoCAD commands.
One piece of software that I've been able to ID is AutoImage-Professional
from Palisades Research. Has anyone used this software? Does anyone know
of any others? Please E-mail all responses. Thanks.

CAD overlay ESP
518-283-8783

i think it only runs in dos - yuck. and it doesn't do the transfer, it
just overlays the image on autocad. you can change the image and draw
over it though and the price is right.

The commercial package CorelDraw (msdos. others?) will do this.
I've tried it, and it seems to work OK from the CorelDraw end, but I haven't
had a chance to load the results with AutoCAD.

I'd be greteful to hear about other solutions to the problem, particularly
if they involve available source code.
