Given the large number of formats and format conversion programs: For a 24 bit RGB image which will ultimately go to an unspecified slide recorder, What is the easiest format to use for *creating an original image* such that (of course) it can actually be converted? PBM?? :-> Short of that, probably RAW format (no header, 1 file for each color plane, Left to right, top to bottom) 24-bit targa would be easy enough once you get past the header.
