I've recently been playing around with dithering, halftoning etc, and in the book "Digital Halftoning" by Robert Ulichney it was mentioned that sharpening an image before dithering will improve the results. Ulichney talks briefly about using 'Digital "Laplacian" Filters' but I don't quite understand. Could somebody please point me to a book that explains this sharpening process in non-mathematical terms, with maybe some pseudo-code? If it is really easy could somebody either mail or post an explanation? Also could someone please provide some infomation on filtering images without all the dreadful maths? I don't understand Fourier Analysis at all, and all the texts I've found simply give pages of maths and no actual examples. Thanks... -- Bernard Schmitz c8902477@cc.newcastle.edu.au
