Does anyone know of a rendering system that lets you specify object transformations relative to the eye position, in addition to world coordinate transformations? I can hear you asking "why bother?" I can think of a couple of interesting applications. The best one is for doing fly-by animations. If you could specify objects relative to the eye (e.g. an airplane cockpit), then the animation can be done simply by moving the eye, and the cockpit moves with it as you fly around your scene. Another application might be sticking lens in front of the eye, and moving around the scene. I was thinking about adding this capability to Rayshade, since it already works with the C preprocessor. The eye location could be specified by preprocessor macros, and the animation done with a shell script that just changes the eye parameters. Any opinions? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- David Wexelblat | dwex@mtgzz.att.com | I asked her her name.
