******************************************************************************
* WELCOME TO EUROGRAPHICS'91 *
******************************************************************************
September 2 - 6, 1991, Vienna, Austria
Eurographics'91, the 12th annual conference of the European Association for
Computer Graphics
Just another conference?
*** NO! ***
The following 10 points should convince you, that Eurographics'91 is much more
than just "another conference"!
* The excellent technical programme
170 submissions were evaluated carefully, and a total of 40 papers was
selected by the 32 members of the international programme committee and by
many additional reviewers from all over the world. This guarantees a high
level technical programme.
* The invited speakers
Pierre Bezier, Andrew Glassner, Donald Greenberg, Greg Nielson and Robert
Parslow are among the best known names in computer graphics.
* The tutorials
Top experts in various fields will give one day courses on topics of high
interest. The educational level of Eurographics tutorials is traditionally
very high.
* The industrial exhibition
In contrast to some other years, a large industrial exhibition of computer
graphics products will enrich the conference.
* All the other conference parts
Eurographics will also include a slide, video & film competition and
presentation at a gala evening, sessions giving State of the Art reports on
selected topics, sessions describing research projects of the EC-programmes, a
poster show, and the annual general assembly of the Eurographics Association.
* Vienna
Vienna, one of the most beautiful cities in the world and capital of classical
music invites you to bring your family and friends for vacation, and to enjoy
with you one of the most exciting weeks in your life!
* Gateway to the East
Vienna has been a junction to Eastern Europe for centuries. Vienna is only
60 km away from the former Iron Curtain, and today it is more than ever the
meeting point for politicians, economists, artists and scientists from East
and West. Many participants from Eastern Europe will visit the Eurographics
conference for the first time.
* The conference site
The conference will take place in one of the most important historic buildings
of Vienna, the Hofburg, which is the former residence of the Austro-Hungarian
emperors. No other conference centre in the world can beat the atmosphere of
this architectural jewel in the heart of Vienna.
* The year
1991 is the 200th anniversary of Mozart's death. Mozart's music is dominating
the cultural live in Vienna throughout the year. There could be no better time
to visit Vienna.
* The social events
Enjoy Mozart's "Magic Flute" at the Vienna State Opera, visit the mayor in the
historic city hall, feel what "Gemuetlichkeit" is in a suburban Heuriger, and
hear Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "Phantom of the Opera" live - then you will
know why Vienna is famous for its life style!
If you still have any doubts whether Eurographics'91 is worth visiting, come
and experience it, and your doubts will be swept away.
I await you in Vienna!

EXHIBITION
One of the most important events of Eurographics'91 will be the major
industrial exhibition on computer graphics, which will take place from
September 4 to 6 at the conference center. International leading companies
will demonstrate their latest hardware and software developments and appli-
cations in this field. This strong participation will offer the opportunity to
conference participants to keep themselves abreast of what is going on in the
computer graphics market. On the other hand, exhibitors will be able to
establish trade connections to numerous potential customers. In addition,
publishers will present new books and interesting journals on computer
graphics. The exhibition will be open also to the public. Admission is free
for all conference participants.
Exhibitors can order detailed information from the congress secretariat.
POSTER SESSIONS
In parallel with the conference programme a poster presentation displaying
scientific material on boards in a special area will take place. The aim of
the poster presentation is to publicize work in progress, important last-
minute results and material which is less appropriate for oral presentation
to a larger audience. Each author of an accepted poster will have the oppor-
tunity to discuss his topics in front of his poster. A schedule for poster
presentation will be provided at the beginning of the conference. Submission
deadline is June 1, 1991.
SLIDE, VIDEO & FILM COMPETITION
A competition of computer-generated videos, films and 35 mm slides will be
held, with prizes awarded for the best entries, based on creativity and
technical excellence. A broad selection of all entered material will be shown
during the conference in a video show also open to the public. The social
event on Thursday, September 5, will be devoted to this video gala with awards
giving. Admission is free to all participants on this evening.
