I'm using the Utah Raster Toolkit, v3.0 with 2 patches, to convert rle files to rla files. Using WaveFront, v2.9, imf_dspl, I get an error code of -8. I change the rla extension to rlb and get the same error. In fact, it will not recognize those image sizes (formats) that are not defined in $WF_DIR/src/config.c. Wavefront's handling of rlb files is much more forgiving. However, don't forget to include the "-imf rlb" option when viewing (or compositing or whatever). The current URT/Wavefront-related conversion routines are buggy. I believe a new patch to the URT is coming out soon.
