Does anyone have code or references for a method of converting a bitmap B&W image (i.e. scanned graphics) to cubic bezier spline outlines? Ideally, what I'd like is a routine that would take a tolerance value and come up with a close-to-minimal set of bezier curves to define the outlines of the various pieces and/or holes with that accuracy. This isn't specifically for fonts, just general graphics. I'll also be using it for chinese characters, but I think these will be drawn large enough that I don't need to worry about all the special problems with doing fonts (i.e. I'm not interested in font hinting). I can't be the first person to ask about this, so I'm sorry, but I don't remember it being in the FAQ. Given that Postscript does beziers, I'd think someone would already have done this. -- Terry Poot <tp@mccall.com> The McCall Pattern Company (uucp: ...!rutgers!ksuvax1!deimos!mccall!tp) 615 McCall Road (800)255-2762, in KS (913)776-4041 Manhattan, KS 66502, USA
