I remember hearing a recording of Gould doing Schoenberg's Op 19 piano pieces. His rubato was so extreme that only the most indirect relation seemed to exist between sound and the printed page. This would be fine if Gould were the composer, too, but...! I would rather hear Schoenberg's rhythms as he wrote, and therefore presumably intended them. In short, I don't recommend this combination (big help, huh). Jeff Winslow
