Suppose I do not have a VGX, a GP, a GP2, a SRX, a GT, or a GS750 or any other 3D graphics hardware you'd care to mention..... Now, does anyone know what sort of performance I can expect from software-only rendering systems? I can understand the dearth of software for '020 and '030 based systems because of the lack of performance. However, my experience with RISC-based systems is that they can provide quite respectable performance for medium-sized (1000 to 3000 polygon) models. The rendering stuff I've done gives me around 35,000 polygons per second on a SPARC 2. This is quite adequate for the sort of interactive 3D graphics I use; does anyone know if this is comparable to other software (I do not have: a VGX, a GP, a GP2, a SRX, or a GT) 3D graphics systems? Adam PS I do not have a VGX, a GP, a GP2, a SRX, or a GT 3D graphics accelerator.
