[comp.graphics] animation on mathematica-486 with Svga

leach@images.cs.und.ac.za (05/17/91)

I have a 486 with 16MB RAM, a Super VGA card with 1MB on board, and a Super
Sync 3A monitor. I am using Mathematica to animation 3D Graphics. This is
very slow. I have to leave programs running overnight to view the next
day. How can I speed this up?

I will be upgrading to a 486-33MHz from my present 486-25MHz. Should I
buy a Weitek Chip (this may be incompatible with the 80387 co-pro on
the 486) or should I buy a better graphics card?

Any news on the XGA standard? What co-processor can I buy for the graphics
card?

If necessary, I will buy a chip for the CPU and upgrade my graphics
adaptor, but I obviously do not want to spend money unnecessarily.

Help please!!
