vannes@ecn.nl (Gerard van Nes) (06/07/91)

We will inform you that an UNIRAS listserver is available with
address:
               UNIRAS@HEARN

UNIRAS is the device-independent computer graphics software
package for visualization of technical & scientific graphics
data, used by both programmers and end-users.

The UNIRAS discussion list has been initiated by UNIRAS users and
will be used by the main UNIRAS users worldwide.

Discussion topics for the list could include:
- installation hints,
- (possible) bugs and (hopefully) fixes,
- information about local applications,
- programming hints,
- general questions about UNIRAS modules,
- exchanging of public domain UNIRAS applications,
- system dependent implementation questions/answers,
- remarks about userinterfaces and I/O devicedrivers,
- relation with other (graphics) software products,
- general news about usermeetings,
- etc.

The list has the following characteristics:
- every UNIRAS user (site) or UNIRAS site installation manager can
  subscribe to the list,
- every UNIRAS user can send mails to the list which will be forwarded to
  all UNIRAS subscribers (worldwide),
- everybody can review the list (get a description and a list of
  subscribers),
- the language will be English.

How to subscribe?
An easy way is to send an electronic mail to the user:
   LISTSERV@HEARN
with the following one-line message:
   SUBSCRIBE UNIRAS your personal name
(e.g. SUBSCRIBE UNIRAS Gerard van Nes).

You can check your membership by sending (after some time) to the same
user (LISTSERV@HEARN) the message:
   REVIEW UNIRAS

After your subscribtion to the list, you can send mails to the `user'
   UNIRAS@HEARN
who will forward your mail to ALL UNIRAS subscribers worldwide.

Hopefully this medium will be a comfortable way in exchanging UNIRAS
information directly between UNIRAS users!
