I need to take the output of screendump on a Sun Sparc IPC and output it to a postscript printer. I realize that you are suppose to be able to type something like this and have it work but it doesn't: screendump | lpr -Plw -v This responds with the error message that no -v output device exists which is true. How do you configure just a vanilla postscript printer to handle raster files? (I suppose you modify the /etc/printcap file but how?) I tried using the Utah Raster toolkit with options something like this screendump | rasfilter8to1 -rgba50 | rastorle | rletops > file.ps and everything worked fine and dandy, but the file turned out to be over 8MB of postscript text! This isn't good when you're connected to the printer at 9600 bps. I hope that someone of you graphics gurus has solved this problem by using encapsulated postscript or something. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jeffrey M. Stockett Internet: stockett@titan.tsd.arlut.utexas.edu UUCP: ..cs.utexas.edu\!ut-emx\!jeanluc\!stockett
