[comp.graphics] Tutor needed for Graphics Programming/Concepts

burr@seas.gwu.edu (Timothy J. Burr) (06/18/91)

I am a grad student at GWU. I'm trying to learn as much as possible
about computer graphics - programming and theory - this summer to
ready myself for an intensive graphics course taught at GWU this
summer. I'm basing my study on the book "Computer Graphics: Principles
and Practice", by Foley and VanDam. This book is used for cs185 and
cs219 (I think), at GWU - for those of you that are familar with the
GWU curriculum. Beyond the initial graphics concepts I'm very interested
in 3-D modeling and 3-D animation. The course I am preparing for in
the fall is a Computer Animation course. Anyway, back to this summer's
studies, I am using SRGP and SPHIGS which are simplified graphics
packages discussed in detail in the Foley and VanDam book. My problem
is that I'm new to graphics, fairly new to C and I'm trying to
learn this at home on my 386 machine using Borland C++ which I just
got. It would be great if I had some occasional help (say once or
twice a week), to get past obstacles. The person I'm looking for
ideally should have:

1) Taken some of the graphics courses at GWU or somewhere else at the
   graduate level.
2) Be familar with SRGP and SPHIGS - or some other similar graphics
   package like SUNPhigs or GKS.
3) Be well versed in C.

I live in DC and am flexible on the times we could meet. The time
period I'm looking at is over the next 2-3 months. The rate is
negotiable. If you are interested please give me (Tim) a call at
202-537-0266 (Home) or 202-342-2410 (Work).
