PROBLEM: PC/IX running on an IBM PC with a Tseng multi-pak board. When the console scrolls, the computer and video controller chip disagree as to where we are in video ram. The result is that as the screen scrolls up, garbase comes in from the bottom. Using "nm" and "adb" I have located and disassembled the object files that drive the screen (kd1.o and kd2.o). Interactive Systems was willing to verify the module names but due to licensing could not devulge any additional info. I am not finding the assembly dumps from "adb" very informative and would appreciate any help in locating where PC/IX does the end of screen comparison so that the constant can be hacked to agree with the larger RAM in the Tseng board. (BTW: I have tried calling IBM - they don't have an assistance telephone number. Tseng was friendly, but the only solution they had was to replace the multi-pak which contains the console, battery-backed up clock, 512K RAM, 2 serial ports, and a parallel port.) I doubt this is of general net interest, so please respond by e-mail to: Ira Chayut R & D Associates 3625 Perkins Lane, SW Tacoma, WA 98499 (206) 581-1322 ....uw-beaver!tikal!slovax!ira
