I knew a sitarist at Penn State who disliked Shankar's technique. "Too many notes," as he would say. I'm not certain whose music he did prefer, but Ali Akbar Khan is not exactly a poor choice. Those of us who have lived in the Bay Area and like Indian music must surely have fallen under the spell of his sarod playing. A marvelous performer! His concerts are not to be missed. The only recordings of his that I know of are on Indian EMI. They are also usually sold at his concerts. Bruce Parker BTL Pissthataway
