[comp.unix.questions] Idle Process Deletion

deutsch@jplcwp.UUCP (04/03/87)

I am looking for a utility that works under
Ultrix 1.2 for recognizing and deleting idle
processes or unmanned processes.

The scenario is as follows:

A user is logged and he/she began using
"vi" or "emacs" or "more" and for some
reason she/he walked away from the terminal.
As far as the system is concerned the user
is running a process, yet the terminal
is unnatended and is a potential for a
	security breach.

Another situation:

A background process has been started by
someone, who is no longer logged-in and
this process is an unnecessary one therefore
	it should be deleted.

If you have or have seen a solution please reply directly
because I do not have time to read all the messages
in the e-mail.

Thanks in advance.
