[comp.unix.questions] script doesn't work for me

I have a VAX-750 running 4.3 BSD. When I try to use "script" as
myself, it hangs with the message:

	Stopped (tty input)

If I use "script" as root, it works fine. The ttys and ptys in /dev
are mode 666. Any ideas?
