A couple of days ago I was in Washington, D.C. and I stopped at the Library of Congress. I did a search for the word "unix" in their online catalogue of book titles since 1980. There were a total of 119 entries found. I am listing some of the more recent ones below to find out if anybody has read these books and is willing to let us know whether they found them good/bad. I am ommitting classics like Bach or Rochkind, kiddie books ("how to use vi"), and the older ones (anything before '86). Portable C and Unix System Programming by J.E.Lapin, 1987. Tricks of the Unix Masters by Russell G. Sage, 1986. Unix System Administration by Frank Burke, 1987. The Unix Text Processing System by Kaare Christian, 1987. Text Processing And Typesetting with Unix by David Barron & Mike Rees, 1987. Unix System Software Readings, 1987 Unix Papers, 1987. If you have read any of the above books, please drop me a note about your opinion of the book. I will post a summary to the net.
