[comp.unix.questions] Question: date: TOY clock message

hamish@root.co.uk (Hamish Reid) (06/26/87)

I suppose this is the sort of question that gets
re-asked periodically, but...
Can anyone tell me why V.2 date gives the message
	date: no TOY clock
when any argument starts with '-' ??
More to the point, what does the message *mean*, and what
happens on systems that *do* have TOY clocks?
(I know *why* the message appears, looking at the sources, but
not what it *means* - does TOY mean time of year?? even if it did, that
doesn't help much...)
	Just wondering.
