[comp.unix.questions] dbx memory overload

resnick@gt-cmmsr.GATECH.EDU (Dave Resnick) (08/03/87)

We have a very large simulation program here that's written
in C. When we load it into dbx, it takes up twenty times as
much memory as it's source files alone; this is causing our
VAX 11/780, which is running 4.3 BSD UNIX, to run out of memory (!!!).
Can anyone out there offer some expert suggestions/tricks as to how
to reduce the memory requirements for dbxing this program?
