This is a replay of a note I sent on July 17. I thought I'd try one more time, since I didn't get one bite last time! Thanks in advance to anyone who will answer... We're now planning the implementation of a Cyber 830 running NOS/VE. We have VX/VE, which is CDC's layered implementation of UNIX, but it only have some features of the Berkley UNIX. What we want, however, is a full-fledged Berkley UNIX. As far as I can tell, there is not a Berkley version out there to run on a Control Data (NOS/VE). Is my understanding correct? If we can't find one to run on the CDC machine, our second choice would be to run it on our IBM 4381 (VM). Again, as I understand it, you can get UNIX for VM, but not a Berkley version. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me if I'm right or wrong! What I'm hearing from our systems people is that either you buy a VAX or an AMDAHL if you want Berkley UNIX. Thanks for any information you can send my way.
