[comp.unix.questions] Unix with >200 users

milo@ndmath.UUCP (Greg Corson) (09/15/87)

I'm looking for recomendations on Unix computer systems that can support a
large number of users, preferably 200 or more. All users will be doing very
light duty stuff...mostly displaying files and on occasion editing them a
little. No compiles/word processing/number crunching or anything like that
will be done.

All users will be accessing the machine through X.25 links, there will be
no need for more than a few serial ports. The machine will need to be able
to support two or three X.25 lines though. Multiple linked computers are
acceptable but they must have an efficient common file system and appear to
the user as one machine.

If any vendors or computer users know of a machine that fits this bill, please
tell me about it. Feel free to write, email or call.
