I have a couple of things here, so bear (bare? bair??) with me! **EDT*** At our lab, our major usage (90%?) is on our VAXcluster running VMS. I had spent over a year using VMS myself, when all of a sudden we got a UNIX machine. Now switching from EDT to other editors was a major nightmare, so I decided it would be nice to have an EDT emulator. (I can see all you faces cringing and saying .."He didn't..did he?!?!", but yes, I did!) JOVE gave the opportunity to create one. I have been using My Own Version JOVE (MOVJOVE!!) for a few months now, and I guess if anyone else wants it, they can have it. I do have permission to distribute it. I basically added a few more routines and hacked in some more tables to allow usage of the function keys on vtxxx terminals. Our VMS EDT users have used it without noticing any major differences between it and VMS EDT. I tried to leave as many of the emacs key-bindings as I could and even added some additional features. I currently lack documentation, but I'll get around to writing some if there is interest...so show interest! If you'd like a copy, please send me e-mail at this node or got@psuhcx.bitnet. **ECSH*** Along the same lines, I have created a version of the csh that allows command line editing very similar to VAX/VMS DCL. (By now, you have probably denounced me as a heretic, but I look at it as having the best of both worlds!). Its a mixture of BSD 4.3 csh sources and the Ohio State tcsh sources. I call itecsh. Now here I don't know what I am allowed to hand out and what I'm not...I can post the diffs between it and tcsh I guess, but I have made some changes to the 4.3 csh sources too...there is a minor problem there, but I won't mention what that is! If you are interested, again, send e-mail. **Questions** Our UNIX machine is a Harris Corp HCX-7. I was just wondering how many of there (or HCX-9's) are out there? Our's is VERY unreliable, and Harris seems clueless...if there are any other's out there, do you go down about several times a day with machine checks and buss errors? (seems like the Versabus times out). And last...does anyone know how one can find out a nodename of a node in the UUCP network. Particularly I'm looking for the address of the Harris Corporation Software Support center in Fort Lauterdale, FL. Is there a UUCP server like SRI-NIC for the internet where you can get such info? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Sunil Gupta | Bitnet: got@psuecl, got@psuhcx P enn | : sunil@psuvaxg S tate | U niversity | UUCP : ihnp4!psuvax1!psuvaxg!sunil E ngineering | : ihnp4!psuvax1!psuecl.bitnet!got C omputer | L ab | ARPA : got@ecl.psu.edu (128.118.5.4) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
