If you have any sort of public forum or news service on your machine, we'd
appreciate it if you would post the following letter. We understand there is
a "uunews" facility associated with uucp, but we don't have access
to it. If U.C. Davis is connected to uunews perhaps you'd be willing to
post this message, or otherwise to pass it along to someone who can.

					---------------------------

Hello! My sister, Paula, and I have only recently gotten uucp working on our
System V.2 UNIX machine. We're both anxious to develop contacts with other
UNIX programmers who might be able to answer some of our technical questions.
For example, we're currently trying to convert a game (larn) written for BSD
UNIX to run under System V but have encountered an ioctl(0, FIONREAD,&ic)
system call which we can't figure out how to simulate. Any suggestions?

We are also interested in obtaining whatever public domain software
users might be willing to send our way. Ours is a hobby system -- not
for business purposes, so our interest in software is widespread. Whatever
might help users learn about or enjoy using the machine will be appreciated.

And lastly, we would enjoy contacting other users just for the pleasure of
meeting some other people with similar interests. Are any of you aware
of other "public" unix systems? If so, we would be interested in
getting in contact with them. Our mailing address from U.C. Davis is:
ucdavis!csusac!tree!alan We have a 300/1200 bps public line at (916) 331-3840.
Thanks,
Alan
