[net.cooks] net.nlang.spanish request

sunil@ut-ngp.UTEXAS (Sunil Trivedi) (08/21/85)

I would formally like to request that a new newsgroup called
net.nlang.spanish be created for the following reasons:

	1) To move Spanish/Hispanic topics to one particular
group (Nicaragua & El Salvador issues could be
moved from net.politics to this newsgroup).
	2) To provide forum for issues not found in other
newsgroups (Spanish music styles are not found
	   in net.music).

What would/could be included in net.nlang.spanish:
	 1) politics
	 2) customs
	 3) language
	 4) literature
	 5) history
	 6) music
	 7) arts
	 8) education
	 9) cuisine
	10) travel
	11) religion
	12) entertainment
	13) technology transfer
	14) humor
	15) attitudes towards sex & sexes

Also places where programs for Spanish/Hispanic studies could
be aired. The medium would remain English (Ingles) but the
occasional use of Spanish (accompanied by English translation)
could be useful for those learning or reviewing the language.

Since Latin America is a choice destination for vacationers in
the Americas and since the Spanish islands in the Med. Sea &
N. Atlantic are choice destinations for Europeans, I expect
much interest from the offset in the travel area.

For those of us who must feed ourselves, Spanish recepies would
also be aprreciated.

If you would like to help in the creation of this newsgroup,
please followup this article on net.news.group or send e-mail
to me:

I've mentioned this idea to some people in Spanish here at PSU. They
are interested to the point they might try dealing with this nasty old
computer if it happens.
