[comp.unix.questions] /dev/drum on Sun

richard@aiva.ed.ac.uk (Richard Tobin) (03/03/88)

If I try to read, say, 1000 bytes from /dev/drum under Sun O.S. 3.2, the
read returns 1024, and 1024 bytes have indeed been read in, overwriting
whatever was there. Is this a bug? Neither read(2) nor drum(4) mentions
this possibility.
