Does anyone have a recipe to make Kahlua?

This recipe was given to me by my 94 year old grandmother
a few years ago. It doesn't seem to have done her any
	harm.

	                  KAHLUA
                          ------

	1 qt. water
	3 cups sugar
	10 tbls. instant coffee
	1 qt. vodka
2 1/2 tbls. pure vanilla extract

Bring water, sugar, and coffee to the boil and cook
for 1 hour. Allow to cool, then add vodka and vanilla
	extract.

This is drinkable immediately, but gets better as it
	ages.

I also have recipes for a Gran Marnier type liquor that
I will send when I have time.

My kahlua recipe is similar to that already given, except I use

a vanilla bean (cut up) in place of the vanilla extract, and
Spice Island Antigua or Medaglia d'Oro Expresso as the coffee.

Also, rum or brandy can be substituted for the vodka.

The recipes listed here for Kaluha' are very interesting to me. I have
always just poured vodka over ground coffee, witha couple ov cracked vanilla
beans included, waited until it tasted ok, sweetened it to taste, and
considered the matter finished. If this isn't the right way, sorry, but it
works fine. Oh yes, you have to strain it to get out the grounds.
It doesn't have to sit for long, or it will get bitter.

I've tried a couple of different homemade kahlua recipes, and this one
is by far the best:

******KILLER KAHLUA******

6 cups water
8 cups sugar
4 oz. Yuban instant coffee
4 oz. bottle pure vanilla extract
1 qt. 100-proof vodka
1 bottle (750 ML) 151-proof rum

In large pot, heat water to boiling.
Add coffee and sugar; stir well to dissolve sugar.
Let cool for 1 hour, then add vanilla, vodka, and rum.

It's now ready to be bottled and enjoyed!

VERY IMPORTANT - mixture must be cool before adding
the alcohol, or the alcohol will evaporate!
