[comp.unix.questions] 'Bell Technologies' 386 Unix ?

rickc@agora.UUCP (Rick Coates) (04/17/88)

Netters:

I received an advertising card from an outfit offering Unix SysV rel 3
for the 386 for $145 for 2 user license, or $275 for unlimited user;
either includes C and development tools.

Or maybe $495 for everything (NFS, manuals, etc), the ad is not that clear.
Optional support for X windows (for "popular" graphics cards) is
mentioned, as well as Locus MERGE for running DOS under Unix.

However, either price seems reasonable. Anybody dealt with these people?
What kind of support can one expect for different 386 clones?

The software seems to be 'Interactive Systems' 386ix' - a port of
SysV to the 386.

Could this be a realistic alternative to OS/2 (or MSDOS, for that matter)?
What a concept :-).

Thanks in advance,

Rick Coates
