[comp.unix.questions] internet addresses and uupath.

edward@MATH.UCLA.EDU (04/26/88)

I have a question regarding the 'uupath/uumail' utility which uses the
path aliases posted in comp.mail.maps.

I heard that it is possible for 'uupath' to decode and return internet
addresses from the pathalias database files instead of the length uucp
address for the site. I have tried several times to create the database
(with different parameters, etc.), but have not been able to get 'uupath'
to return such internet addresses for sites in the internet domains. (It
works fine for returning uucp addresses, although I'm kind of suspicious
as to the actual paths that it returns sometimes.) Anyways, could someone
please E-mail any suggestions as to how to build the pathalias database
correctly. The manual on 'pathalias' and 'uupath' is extremely vague in
its description (or at least I think it is.) Thanks in advance,

edward.
