[comp.unix.questions] Where can I buy vi reference cards?

lvc@tut.cis.ohio-state.edu (Lawrence V. Cipriani) (05/04/88)

Anyone know where I can buy vi reference cards?
One of those foldout jobs AT&T used to sell (still
do?) would be perfect.

I've gotten reference cards for UNIX (Sys V and Berkeley) and VI from the
following company:

  SSC
  P.O Box 55549
  Seatle, WA 98155
  (206) 367-UNIX

I use them quite often, so I guess they're pretty good.

One source I have is ASP (A System Publications). I haven't gotten
anything from them yet, but they seem to have a lot available
(including reference cards for the Ksh, NetNews and SCCS). Here
is the relevant info:

	ASP
	711 Chemeketa Dr.
	San Jose, CA 95123
	(408) 226-8819

Good luck, y'all.

Thanks to everyone that wrote to me on where I can get
vi reference cards. In case anyone cares the most
highly recommended cards were from Specialized System
Consultants. Do you folks make emacs reference cards too?

We have had a few requests for emacs references and have considered it
as we try to have a reference for everything related to UNIX. So far
we have decided not to as most emacs users have their own favorite key
bindings so the only reasonable reference would be a list of command
descriptions with a place for the user to fill in the commands :-)

Ok, seriously, we encourage our customers to tell us what they want to
see and a lot more people have told us they wanted a text processing
reference, a 5.3 reference and even a KSH reference than an emacs
reference. We welcome input on what new refs we should publish.
You can e-mail suggestions to:
	{uunet!pilchuck,attmail, uw-beaver!tikal}!ssc!sales
We also pride ourselves in the accuracy of our products. If you find
a bug in one of our refs and are the first to report it we will send
you a free reference of your choice. Send those nasty complaints to:

This has been a fairly popular question, so here goes.
These are all pocket sized (3-1/2" x 8-1/2") reference booklets.
They are comprehensive and vary in price from $2.50 to $6.00.
They are available in some bookstores (Computer Literacy in
Silicon Valley, Cucumber in Washington, DC, Tower Books in Seattle and
Bellevue to mention a few and lots of college bookstores). Also available
directly from us: SSC, PO Box 55549, Seattle, WA 98155 (206)FOR-UNIX or
527-3385. Here is the list:

VI Reference Text Processing Reference
C Library Reference MS-DOS
Fortran 77 C Card (redundant if you have the C Library)
UNIX System Command Summaries for the following systems:
  System 5, Release 2 & 3 BSD 4.2 & 4.3
  XENIX 5 System III
