----------------------------------------------- Hardware : Vax 11/785 OP SYS : BSD 4.3 Systemname : bgsuvax Site : Bowling Green State University Module affected: if_ether.c (7.1.1.1 2/27/87) ----------------------------------------------- We are currently experiencing the following on the above system on our TCP/IP network here at BGSU: 1) A non-BSD system sends out an ARP request (e.g. Ultrix or PC with PC/IP) 2) 'bgsuvax' responds and inserts entry of ARP requester in his cache 3) Non-BSD system loses context and cache (such as turning off PC or whatever) 4) Same non-BSD system sends out another ARP request 5) 'bgsuvax' sees the requester's info in his cache already from previous request and does NOT respond. Is step 5 a bug or is there rationale behind this behavior? Does the new release fix this? Thanks in advance. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------- Kenneth J.
