I say let's have some more gratuitous violations of the unix paradigm! Saying "The Unix Paradigm" makes it sound like some sort of manifesto, and arguing that a thing violates it reminds me of those linguistic conservatives who refuse to admit that languages evolve naturally to reflect its user's needs to communicate. If the unix manifesto oops..I mean "paradigm" of course..results in such a perfect operating system, why does this newsgroup exist? As a user of both the English language and unix, I admit to being left of center. In my opinion, operating systems are like human languages in this regard: they must change to accurately reflect the needs of those who rely on them and avoid stagnation. Unix will not survive if it is strait-jacketed into someone's concept of a paradigm. My question: is there a paradigm? Does anyone have a copy they can send me? E-mail only, unless you think it is of general interest. -- Gary Benson -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-inc@tc.fluke.com_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ Publication Services Ensign Benson, Space Cadet, Digital Circus, Sector R John Fluke Mfg.
