Correction and the true poop on a variety of oils :
(mg figures given are for 1 tsp of the oil or fat)

Type ratio of	cholesterol	sodium	vitamin E *
		unsaturated to (mg) (mg) (mg)
		saturated fats

Butter 0.65 35 lots
lard 1.5 12
margarine 4.3
corn 7.9 t t 11
cottonseed 2.9 0 0 10.9
olive 7.5 t t
peanut 4.3 t t
safflower	11. t t 10.5
soybean 4.9 t t
sesame 5.7 t t
sunflower 6.7 t t
wheat germ 3.8 t t 21.5
veg. shortening 2.9 t t

* all others less than 10 mg vitamin E per tsp. Vitamin E is the only
vitamin present in any quantities in oils.

Notice two things. One is that while cottonseed is *not* relatively low
in saturated fats, it is the same as "vegetable oil", so there is no reason
to prefer v. oil over it. The other is that it has zero cholesterol and
zero sodium. Not that trace (t) amounts are going to kill you. It is
also very high in vitamin E.

This info comes from the book, "The Nutrition Almanac," by Nutrition Search,
Inc., published by McGraw-Hill, NY. It is an excellent source of both
general and specific information, especially for checking before (ahem)
posting to the net. Their food tables are two pages wide (for each entry),
and have a wealth of data on many foods. They give quantity, weight, cals,
gm carbohydrates, gm unsat. fat, gm sat. fat, gm. total fat, gm protein,
mg of most vitamins & minerals, as well as cholesterol and fiber. I highly
recommend it. I list the table of contents below to give you an idea of
its scope.
