Would it be asking too much of the people in charge of SVR4 to have all
extern declaration in the /usr/include/*.h and sys/*.h files to be resolved
in the lint library counterparts of the C libraries? It is quite annoying
to have made your code lint perfectly, only to have the fact that #include'ing
<term.h> results in "name declared but never used or defined" followed by
several global variables not in llib-lc.ln. It's bad enough I have to write
lint libraries for most of the software packages we buy, without having to
go in and modify the existing system lint libraries when I #include
an out of the ordinary file for the first time.
Maybe a better question is, would it be too much to hope for?
lint, it's not just a tool--it's a religion.
