I think the idea of a net cookbook is fantastic, and I would like
to contribute.
What I mean is, I would like to contribute my help in making the thing
come about. I am by profession a technical writer. I have access to
troff and am getting fairly competent at it. I also have access to a
laser printer which produces some excellent quality stuff.
In short, I'm more than willing to compile and edit a net cookbook,
putting the thing in troff format. Once in troff format, I could
supply whoever wants to publish the thing with either a tape, or the
actual printout (printer ready). I could also make the troff version
available in electronic form for anyone who wants it, ready for
troffing if you have troff available. (You can probably nroff it too
if troff isn't available to you.)
However, I don't want to get involved in the actual publishing end.
(You know, handling any money matters!) That's beyond my expertise.
I might suggest that the USENIX organization could be contacted to
possibly arrange for printing, distribution, etc. Maybe we could even
get this done in time for the USENIX conference in Denver?
If any one out there wants to take responsibility for getting this
thing printed, please contact me and we'll see what we can do.
Don't start sending me your recipes until you hear further on the
net. However, let me know if you think this is a good idea.
