I just bought an Oskar food processor and have a couple questions about it (and food processors in general). 1) I used it first to slice up some veggies for salad using the continuous feed attachment. Instead of slicing, it tore and shredded the vegetables (yes, I used the correct side of the disc). Is this normal, or is there something that I can do to prevent this. 2) Can this unit be used to make peanut (or other nut) butters? if so, how? 3) What do I have to do differently if I want to grate something finely as oppesed to course grating, e.g., if I was to finely grate Romano cheese as opposed to stringy grating swiss cheese? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Howard Moskovitz AT&T Info. Systems attunix!howard

Instead of slicing, it > tore and shredded the vegetables... I can't help you here. My Cuisinart doesn't do this. > 2) Can this unit be used to make peanut (or other nut) butters? > if so, how? Easy. Put roasted nuts in the bowl with the steel knife. Turn on the machine and let it go for several minutes. > 3) What do I have to do differently if I want to grate something > finely as oppesed to course grating, e.g., if I was to > finely grate Romano cheese as opposed to stringy grating > swiss cheese? > -- > Howard Moskovitz Cut the cheese into 1 inch chunks, put it into the bowl with the steel knife, and pulse it several times, a second at a time at first, then several seconds per pulse. Don't use cheese that is too hard: it should be possible to pierce it with a pointed knife. -- Jeff Lichtman at rtech (Relational Technology, Inc.)
