[net.cooks] Logger Cookies and Cookbooks

Re: Logger Cookies
I make a similar cookie, and never use rice crispies; I use sesame seeds
(about 1/2 cup) and sunflower seeds (about 1 cup) and some bran and some
wheat germ; I just keep adding stuff until I can't stir the batter
any more. I also put chocolate chips in it (I don't remember if they
were in the original recipe). They never turn out exactly the same
as last time, but no-one seems to complain.

Re: Cookbooks
My favourite (along with the Joy) are the Harrowsmith Cookbooks
(appropriately named Harrowsmith Cookbook Volume I and
Harrowsmith Cookbook Volume II). They consist of a compilation
of favourite recipes from readers of the magazine Harrowsmith,
and all but one of the recipes I have tried have been great.
(the one - Chicken with Artichoke Hearts).
They may only be available in Canada, but can be ordered
directly from Harrowsmith at
Harrowsmith Books,
Camden East,
Ontario, Canada K0K 1J0
They cost 14.95 (Canadian) each (softcover), shipping charges
are $1.50 per book ($3 max) in Canada and $2.50 per book ($6 max)
elsewhere. They even have a toll free number (may only be of use in Canada)
1-800-267-0954.
Believe it or not, I don't work for them, but I do like their Cookbooks!
