[comp.unix.questions] Upgrading from VMS to UNIX

FAUSETT@radc-tops20.arpa (12/16/88)

I have had it with VMS and am seriously considering converting my VAX11/780
to Unix. I know that DEC sells ULTRIX; what I'm looking for is other sources
and advice. In order to keep the costs down I'm willing to settle for a binary
rather than full-source license. :-(

Thanks!

I love that subject line! Finally a VMS person who admits that converting
from VMS to Unix is an "upgrade".

If you don't want Ultrix, you should go with Berkeley 4.3. Contact Mt Xinu
I guess?

Paul.

I believe that the only folks who provide binary kits for BSD (based) OS
products are Digital and Mt. Xinu. Now, of course *I* think you should
go with ULTRIX, but the Mt. Xinu folks I know are nice too.
