[comp.unix.questions] lpr of large files

MATHRICH@umcvmb.missouri.edu (Rich Winkel UMC Math Department) (03/30/89)

I have a diskless sun 4 (os 4.0) connected to a disk server which has a
laserwriter attached to it. I'd like to be able to print large (>1 MB)
postscript files, but the man page says:

1. 'spooled' files (printed without the -s option) are truncated at 1Mb
2. remote workstations can't use the -s option

Is there a way to for me to print large files without logging in to the
server?

Thanks,
Rich Winkel

Adding mx#0 in the printcap entry of the printer
will allow an unlimited printer file size. Note, you are
still limited by the amount of space allotted to the spool
area. See man printcap for more info.
