I am trying to test sendmail on an ISC 386/ix system. I have run the makefiles for sendmail, mail, mail.new, mailx, mailx.new, and smail and have generated the entire "Basic Networking" package (this package includes uucp commands, /usr/lib/sendmail, and other good stuff). I am able to send mail to remote locations using "mail" with destaddr!loginname addresses, but in order to test sendmail, I believe it will be necessary to mail to loginname@destaddr addresses. Do I have to set up pathalias files and install a mail router or is my vanilla UNIX already able to use sendmail correctly. One approach I am trying is to look at Dave Taylor's ELM package and see how it interfaces with sendmail. If I could install and run this or just understand how this package works I may know enough to finish this testing. Any ideas out there?
