[comp.unix.questions] Why is my uucico failing?

jb@aablue.UUCP (John B Scalia) (05/04/89)

Up until, oh a couple of weeks ago - I don't have an exact date, all of
my uucp connections were going fine. Now, for some reason, any incoming
call whose login requires uucico just causes the system to hang. The
whole routine runs like normal, we send login:, get a name, we send
Password:, get the password, and uucico starts up. From that point there
is dead silence until one of the two systems times out. A "ps" trace
shows that the other machine is logged in and that uucico has begun, but
nothing happens. If we call out, BTW, there are no problems whatsoever.
This includes to those sites who would normally be calling us.

I'm using a Convergent S/640 running under CTIX (Sys V R2), and have
HDB for my uucp, and, of course, no source code for uucico. Oh, I also
have reloaded all the uucp executables from the original distribution
tape to no avail.

I have tried tech support, but my normal techie won't be in 'til next
week. Anyone got any ideas I might look at before then.
